Our lovable pups can develop colds just like us humans. If you think your four-legged friend is feeling under the weather, check out the symptoms below so you can start treating them right away!
The list of symptoms below are not severe but can be very uncomfortable for your dog. If your dog is showing any of these signs, it is best to take them to the veterinarian just to make sure you aren’t missing anything serious.
Fever
Sneezing
Watery eyes
Loss of appetite
Coughing (usually a honking noise)
Clearing their throat
Lazy/Sleeping more often
Nasal congestion and discharge
The common cold for dogs doesn’t last more than a week. Its important you keep them warm and hydrated during these times. Below are some tips on how to treat a cold at home.
Limit your time spent outside during the winter weather.
Make sure their food is nutritious and that it provides immune system support.
Set a cool mist vaporizer by their bed, this will help keep their bronchial tubes moistened.
Provide them with plenty of water throughout the day.
Keep your pup warm and dry.
