Finding the right veterinarian for your pup is the most important decision you’ll make as their owner. How do you know what to look for? Below are a couple tips on how to find the right vet for your dog.

Ask your fellow pet owners, friends and family about their vets. Research their reviews on equipment, care and staff. The American Animal Hospital Association evaluates veterinarians on their online website. Make an appointment with a veterinarian before deciding. This way you can get the full affect of the office and the people. Ask yourself, is the facility clean, organized and do they have the proper amount of staff? You should ask the vet as many questions as you want. The right vet will understand your concern and make you feel as comfortable as possible. Good questions might include, what equipment is used, is the practice AAHA-accredited, how do they manage pain, how do they monitor the animals and if the practice has licensed veterinary technicians on staff? As long as you feel comfortable, your pup will too.

If the veterinarian you have right now isn’t satisfying your needs, don’t be afraid to leave. The understand that clients will go but don’t forget to get all of your dogs records before leaving.
