I wanted to get a buddy for my fiance's dog, but also was looking for a field dog that I could take with me on my scientific excursions in the swamps of Louisiana and Florida in gator country. After seeing several dogs at the South Los Angeles Dog Shelter, Asha was the first and only dog that I actually made a connection with- she was playing with me, kissing me; I couldn't resist this 4 month old puppy! My fiance and I took her home and her and our other dog Brodie connected quickly. We knew we had found the right dog for our 'growing' family. Plus, she seems to respond to alligator calls which is pretty amazing and great for my work, so I definitely know it was meant to be!
Asha has a lot of energy, is a quick learner, but is also very stubborn. Got Sit has helped me channel her energy into paying more attention to me, and becoming a better listener. Also, learning how to control her energy and getting her to finally come to my calls has been a great step forward. The next big step lessening her aggressiveness towards other dogs (she's very protective of me, especially after a threatening dog scared us on a hike). I am already seeing a difference thanks to the training.
