We had tried a few other dogs from the pound or craigslist, but they never worked out because they would bolt, or wouldn't house train, so we decided to try with a puppy, so we could train her the way we wanted her to behave, and not try to correct old bad habits. Looked at the shelter, but they never had puppies when we went, so we tried Craigslist. They went so fast that by the time I called on them they were gone, or they only had one left, and they wanted several hundred for them! I wanted to be able to pick from the litter, so I ended up getting Bella from a breeder JPH German Shepherd Dogs (Jon Hornback, Snohomish) where I was able to pick from 2 litters of healthy well taken care of puppies. I was impressed with how much he knew about their heritage, the care he took in certifying hips, getting all the vacs done, how they were housed, and how great the parents looked, so we got Bella from him at 4 mos of age. A+ blood lines plus great training= great dog! Thanks Gotsit!
I love the fact that they train outdoors with other dogs and that they get time to free play with the other dogs between. Any program can teach your dog to sit, but this really nails being able to be in control around other dogs, which I think is a really important element that other programs don't even touch. I love the consistency it provides, and the fact that it doesn't rely on treats, which I don't always have handy. It communicates to your dog in a way that is easy for the dog to pick up quickly, and if you are consistent, they will be too! It is very easy to teach new things with this method as well.Bella love the training because it teaches her how I want her to behave, and she gets to learn around other well balanced dogs that won't scare her off.
