My husband and I were originally looking for a Brittany Spaniel through a rescue group. They told us that if we went and picked up Clyde from the Vancouver, WA Humane Society, we could foster him, and if we wanted to keep him they would wave the fee. We knew he wasn't all Brittany when we got him at 8 months old, but when he grew up we realized he was definitely an English Setter. We knew he was going to be a handful from the start. He had no bite inhibition and chewed on us the whole ride home. He has improved in the last 2 years 1,000%, and with Got Sit's help we hope to continue to improve his behavior and our relationship.
We have tried other approaches to training and they did not work with our dog. He is very smart and headstrong. He has a very strong prey drive and isn't food motivated. In another training class we took him to, he was able to perform all of the tricks, but then would go right back to barking at the other dogs. The trainers couldn't help. We love Got Sit because we feel like we are actually challenging our dog. He is learning self control which was his biggest issue. This is the first training method that has actually got his attention, and we are able to tailor it to his needs.
